Aiden Markram scored a century after returning to the test format. The West Indies cricket team also put up a strong fight against South Africa on the first day of the first test match against South Africa at SuperSport Park on Tuesday. Markram scored 115 runs for the team out of their total of 314 for 8. Pacer of the West Indies cricket team took three wickets for 60. New Captain of South Africa cricket team won the toss and decided to bat first, they were looking all set to take full control when they reached 221 for one  but just after this they lost 7 more wickets before the close and added only 93 runs to their total as the bowlers of west indies cricket team found swing, lateral movement and more consistency with the old ball.  An opening partnership of 141 runs was formed between Markram and former captain of the team Dean Elgar, which was followed by an 80-run partnership between Markram and Tony de Zorzi, who is the new captain of the team. Tony lost his wicket on 28 runs.
Bavuma, the first black African captain of the South Africa cricket team, was LBW for a nought to a full ball from Joseph. Two balls later, Joseph yorked the wicket of Markram. Markram was dropped from the team last year because of his poor form; in the last 15 innings, he was not able to score a single half century. He had not scored a century since 2021, when he scored 108 runs against the Pakistan team in Rawalpindi.
The South Africa team showed five changes from the team that played in the third test of a series where they lost against Australia with De Zorzi and pacer Gerald Coetzee both handed their first caps, whereas in the West Indies only one change is made from the team that beat Zimbabwe by an innings and four runs, and that is replacing GudakeshMotie because of his back injury with fast bowler Kemar Roach.
