Jasprit Bumrah has achieved a remarkable milestone in the ICC Test Rankings, securing the top position with a career-best rating of 908 points as of January 8, 2025. This achievement follows his historic performance in the Border-Gavaskar series, where he recorded the highest-ever rating for an Indian bowler at 907 points before improving it by one point after taking two wickets in the first innings at the Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG). Unfortunately, a back spasm prevented him from bowling in the second innings, limiting his contribution to batting only.

Joining Bumrah in the top ten is left-arm spinner Ravindra Jadeja, who rose to joint-ninth alongside Australian pacer Scott Boland. Boland made a significant leap of 29 places after a stellar performance in the Sydney Test, where he achieved a 10-wicket haul (4/31 and 6/45), playing a crucial role in Australia’s victory and reclaiming the Border-Gavaskar Trophy.

In other notable movements within the rankings, Australia’s Pat Cummins climbed to second place after taking five wickets in the final match. South Africa's Kagiso Rabada moved to third, while injured teammate Josh Hazlewood dropped to fourth. On the batting side, India's Rishabh Pant surged three spots to ninth following a blistering 33-ball 61, while opener Yashasvi Jaiswal retained his fourth position. South Africa's captain Temba Bavuma also made strides, scoring a century to rise to sixth place with a career-best rating of 769.
