Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) have been forced to make a key adjustment to their squad for the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 season following the injury of England all-rounder Brydon Carse. Carse, who was part of England’s ICC Champions Trophy squad, sustained a toe injury during the tournament and has been ruled out of both the Champions Trophy and IPL 2025. The injury occurred during England’s group-stage match against Afghanistan, where Carse recorded figures of 1/69 in seven overs and scored eight runs. England’s subsequent group-stage exit and Carse’s prolonged recovery timeline confirmed his unavailability for the IPL.

SRH had acquired Carse for INR 1 crore at the IPL 2025 mega auction, banking on his bowling all-rounder capabilities. However, with his withdrawal, the franchise has named South African all-rounder Wiaan Mulder as his replacement. Mulder, who has played 11 T20Is along with 18 Tests and 25 ODIs, brings valuable international experience to SRH. He has taken 60 wickets across formats and scored 970 international runs, showcasing his utility with both bat and ball. SRH signed Mulder for INR 75 lakh.

This replacement aims to bolster SRH’s squad as they prepare for the 18th edition of the league. The team will kick off their campaign on March 23 against Rajasthan Royals at their home ground, Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad. Despite this setback, SRH remains focused on maintaining balance in their lineup as they aim for a strong performance in IPL 2025.
