It's time for the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 auction, in which 405 players will compete for 87 open seats among a total of 10 teams. On this occasion, some veterans will be considered surplus to requirements while others will launch successful careers. There are usually shocks and letdowns at the IPL auction. But this time, a couple things will be different. Only time will be able to tell if it would be for the better or worse.

The IPL 2023 mini-auction will take place on December 23 in Kochi. Here, we examine certain guidelines and requirements that the franchises would have to follow.

1. The franchisees this season have received INR 5 crore more than they did previous season. The aforementioned sum has been added to their total cash balance.

2. The franchises must use up to 75% of their remaining financial resources.

3. This time, no Right To Match (RTM) card has been accepted.

4. Each squad can have between 17 and 25 Indian players, neither less nor more. A maximum of 8 players may be purchased from the overseas lot.

5. Any participant who is not purchased in the first round may be added later.

Since the 2023 season, the X-Factor substitute has also been permitted, effectively making each match a 12-man team each side. Therefore, before making a bid for the players they want, the franchises would need to take this factor in mind.
