Both India and Australia are viewing the ODI series between them as a precursor to the mega tournament, and key players from each side are weighing in on their expectations and ambitions. Australian all-rounder Mitchell Marsh, who has been in outstanding form recently, subtly addressed the possibility of opening the batting in the absence of injured Travis Head.
While Marsh was cautious about overtly stating his desire to open, he did express that he likes the role and enjoys batting alongside David Warner. The all-rounder reckoned that the privilege of representing Australia surpasses any specific batting position, and he would gladly take on the role if the situation called for it.

Marsh said, "I never like to say ‘yes’ to those sorts of questions because I don’t like being in the headlines saying that I want to open the batting, but it’s certainly an enjoyable role, and I love batting with Davey Warner and I love batting with Travis Head, so I feel like everyone says it, but to get an opportunity to play for Australia is just a huge honour, and
wherever I bat, I am happy, so if that’s at the top for the foreseeable future with Heady being away through injury, then yeah, I will certainly jump at the opportunity.”
