In preparation for the ICC Champions Trophy 2025, Lahore and Rawalpindi will host six matches, backed by an extensive security operation involving 12,000 personnel. The Punjab Police have devised a comprehensive security plan to ensure the safety of players and fans at both venues. This deployment includes 18 senior officers, 54 Deputy Superintendents of Police (DSPs), 135 inspectors, 1,200 upper subordinates, 10,556 constables, and 200 female officers.
Lahore will see the majority of the security presence, with 8,000 personnel assigned to the matches scheduled for February 22, 26, and March 5. This contingent will consist of 12 senior officers, 39 DSPs, and over 6,600 constables. In Rawalpindi, which will host matches on February 24, 25, and 27, around 5,000 officers will be deployed.
The Inspector General of Punjab Police has assured that thorough security measures are in place, including ongoing intelligence-based operations around players’ residences and stadiums. The tournament kicks off on February 19 in Karachi with Pakistan facing New Zealand. Notably, India will play all its matches in Dubai due to security concerns.
