The all-rounder of the Rajasthan Royals, Riyan Parag, has become an important candidate for the T20 World Cup squad of Team India because of his amazing performance in the Indian Premier League season 2024, ahead of the announcement by BCCI. Parag was discussed by many experts as a possible all-rounder option in the middle order, but as the selection committee named the 15-member squad as well as the four reserves, there was no place for Parag. However, the star of the Rajasthan Royals admitted that he was not even considering himself to be a serious part of that race.
On Thursday, after the defeat of the Rajasthan Royals to the Sunrisers, Hyderabad Parag spoke to the media, where the topic of his T20 World Cup snub came up. Giving a sharp reply to the question from a reporter, Parag sarcastically said that he was not even a contender to play in the IPL.
Parag said, “Not really until last year was I even in contention to play in the IPL, right?”
He further added, “so I have heard if you rumours I am not on social media and more I heard few noises here and there but I am just happy they are taking my name for the right reasons now I was not really thinking about anything I am really happy for the boys in our team Sanjubhaiya especially getting the call up it is going to be great for our country and hopefully we bring the world cup home.
