Varun Aaron, the former India fast bowler, has officially announced his retirement from representative cricket at the age of 35. Having previously retired from red-ball cricket at the end of the 2023-24 Indian domestic season, Aaron concluded his career after Jharkhand’s exit from the Vijay Hazare Trophy, where he played four matches and took three wickets.

In a heartfelt message on Instagram, Aaron expressed gratitude for his two-decade journey in fast bowling, stating, “Fast bowling has been my first love… I now look forward to savoring the smaller joys in life while staying deeply connected to the game that has given me everything.” Despite facing numerous injuries throughout his career, including stress fractures and surgeries, Aaron made significant contributions to Indian cricket.

He played nine Tests and nine ODIs for India, with his last international appearance in 2015. In List A cricket, he took 141 wickets at an average of 26.47 and played 95 T20 matches, claiming 93 wickets. Aaron enjoyed a successful IPL career across nine seasons with various franchises, culminating in a title win with Gujarat Titans in 2022. A product of the MRF Pace Academy, he has also worked as a cricket pundit since mid-2024.
