India and Australia cricket teams are facing each other in the last ODI assignment for both teams before the Mega event starts next month in India. During the first ODI match, Shami took the wicket of Mitchell Marsh in the first over. He then returned to send back Smith in his second spell, dismissing the batsman with a ball that moved sharply back in.

On the third delivery of the 22nd over, the ball moved in from the off stump towards Smith. The number 3 batsman of Australia looked to drive but could only manage inside as on to the leg stump.
Smith lost his wicket after scoring 16 runs in 41 balls and after forging a partnership of 94 runs with David Warner. This was the first international match for Smith since the 2023 ashes. He was sidelined from the recent tour of South Africa because of a wrist injury.
